Well, today was the last day at Ark. It was very bittersweet. I will definitely miss the Ark family, but I am very excited about vet school, which makes the situation a little easier. At least I went out with a bang; I assisted in surgery all morning not knowing that this would be my position for the day. I observed my first enucleation (removal of an eye - it had ruptured), a couple of spays, and a mass removal - so all in all it was a good mix of patients.
I received the most fitting going away to vet school gift today from Dr. Williams... sunscreen! Haha... it will be well used!
Now I can begin working on my ginormous "to do" list. I won't bore you with the details, I trust that you'll believe my word on this one.
Thank goodness the weather cooled down a little today, packing is miserable enough on its own!
No one probably cares, but I finally got my luggage squared away! Being a super organized sort of person, it was driving me crazy not knowing how to pack. Take that airlines and your restrictions!
P.S.
I will miss drawing blood and setting IV catheters... sigh. That was possibly the most rewarding aspect of my daily duties at Ark for some reason. It was a little challenge for myself with each new patient. Too bad I won't touch a syringe to a live patient for a few years!

Contact information
Good news, I now have a phone number that anyone in the US can call free of charge to reach me while I am in St. Kitts. This is a Skype number, but it will have voicemail so messages can be left when I am not around.
Please inquire for my new phone number if you do not have it already. Calls are free! I love Skype.
Please inquire for my address. Thank you.
Wish me luck, I start my rabies vaccine series tomorrow. (Ouch!)

Welcome!
This blog is intended to keep everyone at home updated with my adventures as I adjust to living on an island miles away from my friends and family.
Currently, I am still in Corvallis working at Ark Animal Hospital but will be quitting on July 30th.
August will be spent with family and friends, camping, relaxing, and packing.
On August 28th, I will start my 14 hour journey to St. Kitts by way of San Francisco and Miami.
Wish me luck! More to come later, I promise.
