Well, today was the last day at Ark. It was very bittersweet. I will definitely miss the Ark family, but I am very excited about vet school, which makes the situation a little easier. At least I went out with a bang; I assisted in surgery all morning not knowing that this would be my position for the day. I observed my first enucleation (removal of an eye - it had ruptured), a couple of spays, and a mass removal - so all in all it was a good mix of patients.
I received the most fitting going away to vet school gift today from Dr. Williams... sunscreen! Haha... it will be well used!
Now I can begin working on my ginormous "to do" list. I won't bore you with the details, I trust that you'll believe my word on this one.
Thank goodness the weather cooled down a little today, packing is miserable enough on its own!
No one probably cares, but I finally got my luggage squared away! Being a super organized sort of person, it was driving me crazy not knowing how to pack. Take that airlines and your restrictions!
P.S.
I will miss drawing blood and setting IV catheters... sigh. That was possibly the most rewarding aspect of my daily duties at Ark for some reason. It was a little challenge for myself with each new patient. Too bad I won't touch a syringe to a live patient for a few years!
I'm so glad you came over yesterday! I can't believe you are taking 25 credits per term, but it will all be worth it in the end.
